FAQ & Troubleshooting: Lab
Common questions about manual lab orders vs. AI lab interpretation, and known gaps.
What's the difference between Manual Lab Orders and Lab Interpretation?
They're two separate systems. Ordering a Manual Lab Test is for ordering a test and generating a requisition — it doesn't interpret results. Lab Interpretation Hub is for AI-assisted interpretation of results you already have (typed, uploaded, or imported) — it doesn't order anything.
I can't enter or view results for a manual lab order
This is a known gap — see Entering & Reviewing Manual Lab Results. Use Lab Interpretation Hub instead if you want AI-assisted result interpretation, or record values in Clinical Notes in the meantime.
Clicking an order in a patient's history goes nowhere useful
Also a known gap — see the note on Viewing Order History & Status. The order data itself is fine; only the detail screen reachable this way is affected.
"Patient consent is required for manual lab orders"
You need to check the consent box when ordering a test — it can't be created without it.
I can see Lab Interpretation but not Lab Trends
Trends needs a separate permission (lab_integration:trends) from the general read permission — see Lab Trends Dashboard.
"Too many scan attempts, please try again later"
Specimen token scanning is rate-limited to 30 per minute per user — wait a moment before scanning again.
