Creating a Stock Adjustment

Correct stock across multiple products at once, with a categorized reason.

Adjust stock for one or more products in a single record, categorized by type — for accounting purposes, this matters: different types post to different GL accounts.

Fields

  • Location (required)
  • Adjustment type (required) — one of:
    • Damaged
    • Expired
    • Lost / theft
    • Stock correction — a routine count fix
    • Returned to supplier
    • Normal
    • Abnormal
  • Direction — increase or decrease (defaults to decrease)
  • Items (required, at least 1) — product and quantity per line
  • Amount recovered — if any value was recouped (e.g. a supplier credit for damaged goods)
  • Reason (up to 1000 characters)

Picking the right type matters beyond record-keeping — each type routes to a different accounting entry. If you're unsure which applies, "Stock Correction" is the safest default for a routine count fix; use the more specific types (Damaged, Expired, etc.) when the cause is actually known.
