Creating a Stock Take Session
Set up a physical stock count, with scope, counters, and approval settings.
Fields
- Name (required)
- Location (required)
- Type — full inventory, cycle count, or spot check (defaults to full inventory)
- Scheduled date
- Scope — limit to specific categories or products, instead of counting everything
- Assigned counters — who's doing the counting, optionally split by section
Settings
- Freeze inventory — pauses stock changes elsewhere while counting (on by default)
- Allow concurrent sales — off by default, meaning sales are typically paused during a count
- Variance threshold — the % difference that flags an item as a real variance (default 50%)
- Require manager approval — on by default; see Manager Approval & Rejection
- Blind count — hides the expected quantity from counters while they're entering counts, so the count isn't influenced by what the system expects
After creating
The session is created but not yet counting — see Starting a Stock Take.
