Customer Groups

Group customers to give them a flat discount or automatically charge them from a Selling Price Group.

Customer Groups (Customers → Customer Groups) let you segment customers — e.g. Wholesale, VIP, Staff — and decide how each group is priced. A group prices its members in one of two mutually exclusive ways:

  • Percentage — a flat Calculation Percentage discount off the default selling price.
  • Selling Price Group — every sale to a customer in this group is priced from a linked Selling Price Group tier instead (e.g. Wholesale) — no manual switching needed at checkout.

Creating a group

Select + Add

From Customers → Customer Groups, select + Add.

Name the group and pick a price calculation type

  • Customer Group Name — required.
  • Price calculation typePercentage or Selling Price Group.
    • If Percentage, set the Calculation Percentage (%).
    • If Selling Price Group, select which tier this group charges from. This list is empty until you've created at least one group under Selling Price Groups.

Save

The group now appears in the list, with its linked Selling Price Group (or discount percentage) shown in its own column.

Assigning a customer to a group

A group only affects pricing once a customer actually belongs to it. Set a customer's Customer Group from the Customer Group field when adding them (Customers → + Add, or Quick Add Customer from the Checkout Screen's customer selector) — the dropdown lists your actual Customer Groups.

A customer's group can currently only be set when they're created. There's no group field yet on an existing customer's detail/edit screen — to move a customer into a different group later, re-create them, or ask an admin to update it directly.

How this affects checkout

Selecting a customer who belongs to a group linked to a Selling Price Group automatically switches the Checkout Screen's price-group dropdown to that tier — every item already in the cart, and everything added afterward, is priced from it. Clearing the customer (or picking one with no linked group) resets the sale back to Default Price. You can still manually override the dropdown yourself at any point during the sale.

A Percentage-type group isn't applied automatically — it's used by Discounts that are scoped to a specific customer group as their Applies to condition.
